"the New Gigantor"... Sometimes these things get confusing...
Depending on where you are located in the United States, back in the 80s, (or in the 90s), there launched a series entitled "The New Adventures of Gigantor" which basically took the entire style of the old black and white "Gigantor" series and added a very slightly different anime feel and most importantly added color.
Despite the color, and especially with the release of so many "bargain" DVDs a common problem is finding the version that you grew up with...
Here is the OLD "Gigantor" series, which released in the 60s...
Now here is "The New Adventures of Gigantor" series, unfortunately, I could not find the opening from the United States, but this should give you an idea...
Tetsujin 28-go / Ironman 28 (Gigantor - 1980)

A real solid anime series that was, and still is, among the very BEST in the GIANT ROBO genera!

Fall of the Hulks.
...And Introducing... The "Fall of the Hulks"... or, "Operation: Galactic Storm" 2?
Alot of people have recently been complaining about the direction that the Incredible Hulk is moving in. There has been a lot of stipulation that there was such a huge build up in story line and such recent climactic, almost epic revelry that there was bound to be a "Doomsday" for the Incredible Hulk, "black bag" included.
The largest and most deceitful cataclysm that tends to be the folly of Marvel Comics, (and yes, D. C. Comics too) is the unbelievable and unremarkable way to carry out a story. Its found in the "way to drop the ball" attitude that nearly every comic reader out there formulates, even before the comic has finished publishing the story. How many times has a story of utmost intricate design and immaculate craftsmanship become unveiled to shine in the glory of all the flaws of a garbled junk heap. How many times? This is probably one of the biggest reasons there are still independent comic publishers... in the real world when someone dies... they stay dead. Only independent publishers have the courage to walk this line. How many times have "Indy" comics began a great story, told a great story, ended a great story, and for what ever reasons the collaborative team simply moved on their own way. To make matters worse these giant comic publishers feel the need to add insult to injury by "beating the dead horse" and publishing more and more "back up" stories to "add on" and try to prove something... just let it go.
Now enough of the banter...
Here you go:
http://www.marvel.com/ has released an almost enigma of shrouded smoke in the up coming "Fall of the Hulks" story line. Tight lipped and foreboding this has been churning for quite some time...
This image was released to give a little mouth watering glimpse of the havoc that lays in store for the future of the Incredible Hulk.
There has certainly been the ever emerging "this world isn't big enough for the both of us" attitude that seems to find its way into the Hulk saga time and time again. But, unfortunately, even since the beginning of the Red Hulk, there has been a "love it or hate it" belly aching of the disenchanted readers and finally Marvel has seemingly been forced into a corner. There may finally emerge one Hulk to rule them all...
...
From a neutral prospective, there doesn't seem to be any reason that a separate story line shouldn't be allowed to exist, albeit in a "Vertigo" (or in Marvel's case) a "Strange Tales" story line... But as the inevitable popularity (or infamy) begins to rise, so doesn't the corruption for money and marketing, which Marvel, (as do most publishers), fall prey to. The idea that started out to be something good, is put on the "back burner" as the "demand" for cameos, endorsements, and the need to milk every last dollar out of something good leads to the inevitable loss of quality, then to the loss of readers, and then to the "Fall of the Big Buck" which lands into a consolidation process with only one book remaining... funny how history repeats itself?
...
Now... To be fair, that is just one side...
...
Another side is a GREAT story, with GREAT artists, working with GREAT characters making the best darn story line in years...

Fantasy in a whole new light...
During one of those lazy Saturday afternoons, a startling revelation occurred when an episode of "Legend of the Seeker" happened onto the television, and the whole episode played out without a single challenge to fight the hour of "precious" T.V. time...
What happened to all those lower budget, or otherwise lesser known fantasy series that seemed to spark from the shadows of quiet Saturdays and the murky realms of lost Sundays?
These series may not have had the special effects of quality motion pictures, highly trained "A" class actors, breath-taking scripts that would leave you mesmerized waiting for the next blissful episode the following week, or even stories that were remotely folkloric like new chapters of the Iliad, but... in the end... It was impossible to just turn the channel...
Simply put...
They.
Were.
COOL.
These shows were a LONG time coming, where the only outlet for the forgotten Fantasy genera was found in a fleeting card game, known at that time, as "Magic", the only memorable publishers that could attract great writers from nowhere was a little company called TSR, a growing underground vision of what was to become at a little fireside hearth in the Red Dragon Inn, seemingly hundreds of lost warriors and wizardry in the stand alone - Ultima saga, and the last meeting grounds for talented minds were in the autumn Renaissance faires that became more and more endangered.
True, some of these were just spawning, one from the other in a vicious pool of inundating mire that vexed the swelling tide...

Hats off to the lost pioneers of what would become the Peter Jacksons and the Harry Potters of today. If these small chapters were not written they may have not created the necessary "fodder" that would feed the boiling cauldron of what was to be.

Have you ever checked out www.Marvel.com before?
Yeah... We aren't the corporate type, but we're gonna have to give a shout out to the web designers at http://www.marvel.com/ ... If you have ever been to the site, you may find your regular... ENORMOUS, web-site that has LOADS of information that basically becomes mind boggling obscene...
But... when you really get a chance to stop and surf it... it's basically Marvel Comic's own version of Marvel "On Demand."
True, the buck stops at all the licences that they do not own the complete rights to, but when I go from an episode of the good ol' 60's Spider-Man cartoon show to an episode of the great 90's X-Men animated series... I have to step back and say, "MAN, WHAT A BOMB SITE!" Definitely worth checking out.
If you ever have a few extra minutes... check out a favorite show... heck, even current episodes, you may be surprised...
BE FOREWARNED: You can't enlarge the picture.
You have to wait for the movie to load.

Insight emerges from the Iron Man 2 camp
The Iron Man 2 casting call has been launched, characters revealed, and a release date set... Now the wait begins...
http://www.marvel.com/ has uncovered information on their "Marvel Movie Hub" section about the upcoming Iron Man 2 movie with a standing release date of May 7, 2010.
The actors have already been listed and a vague description released...
Iron Man - Tony Stark: Robert Downey Jr.
Virginia Pepper Potts: Gwyneth Paltrow
James Rhodes: Don Cheadle
Black Widow: Scarlett Johansson
Whiplash: Mickey Rourke
John Slattery: Howard Stark
Justin Hammer: Sam Rockwell
Garry Shandling: Senator Stern
Sometimes the actors that Marvel finds for their characters are absolutely shocking... but most of the time they actually do a pretty good job... most of the time.
With the crew now in place and the Marvel Characters set, Marvel has already begun its "tie-in" campaign with the rest of the Marvel Universe. In stores, for November an Iron Man mini series will feature a story with the new movie villain Whiplash as the corner stone. Entitled "Iron Man VS. Whiplash", this four issue series will focus on further illustrating the "executive side" of Tony Stark and how the villain Whiplash is involved with Iron Man.
All in all... Looking forward to the movie!
-Our hearts go out to you Howard, you deserve better!!!

Funimation Acquires the rights to produce Initial D
On September 25, 2009 Funimation acquired the rights to produce the Japanese classic and underground North American favorite "Initial D." The best way to describe Initial D? Get rid of the "Family Ties" feel of "Speed Racer" and throw away the pop, Hollywood feel of the "Fast and Furious" movie series, and throw in the... well... its unlike anything you have ever seen. This really is an innovative and cutting edge series. When this story first came out it was among the first anime series to incorporate computer graphics into the classic anime drawings and uniquely bond the two into a very stylish, flowing saga.
Funimation is set to release "Initial D First Stage," Initial D Second Stage," "Initial D Extra Stage," "Initial D Third Stage." and "Initial D Fourth Stage." Although Funimation will re-dub the series using it own casting for voice actors, they have announced that the series will remain un-cut and orchestrated with the original Japanese music score.
Initial D is said to have been aired on "Adult Swim" in Australia, but with the growing strength of Funimation in North America, they will probably incorporate the series into their own Television station on cable and in their "sister" sites, like featured on http://www.veoh.com/ . For more information check out http://www.funimation.com/ .
Here's a little sample, just the opening for "Initial D Fourth Stage" ...

Kingdom Hearts 3!?!
Now that the press release is out... All is said and done... Disney now owns the giant Marvel... What exactly does that mean for Marvel?
Looking at what exactly Disney is... and more importantly what it does... Simply put, it's a business... What does that mean? It's a gigantic marketing Machine, A Juggernaut. BEHOLD!!!
Now, check this out, Disney not only sells its own "Dream," but, Disney has their mitts into almost anything that it can make a buck on... not that this is a bad thing, especially for the fans, but now what is in store for the world...
There is not a doubt in my mind, a "Marvel Land" will emerge in Walt Disney World. Toon Disney will create scores of T.V. series based on the likes of Spider-Girl, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Invisible Woman and the Fantastic Four, The "Ravishing" She-Hulk and the "Sensational" Minnie Mouse, etc, etc. While Disney XD focuses on The Amazing Spider-Man, The Uncanny X-Men, The Incredible Hulk meets Goofy...
Now, Spider-Man meets Stan Lee will be replaced with Spider-Man meets Mickey Mouse...
Unfortunately, the obvious possibilities are endless... Now... Lets get down to the "Nitty Gritty." Disney has collaboratives galore. Amongst a few... Studio Ghibli, Square-Enix, Lucas Films, Hasbro, even the occasional Warner Bros. team-up, So...
...
When will the "sounds of the underground" be churned up and forced into the mix? Let's face it... it was a sad, cold day when the rumor of Final Fantasy characters meeting Disney characters came true...
But... Yeah... they pulled it off, in a very decent manner that really saved "face" to both companies... Besides, lets face it... unless you are a gamer, or a fan of this side of Disney you probably have never even heard of "Kingdom Hearts." Heck, there are still ALOT of people who can't put "Disney" and "Nightmare Before Christmas" together... There is a realm of Disney that is very discrete and commendable...
But, lets face the Cold
Hard.
Facts...
When will this...
Be FORCED into the likes of this...
I just hope that this isn't the beginning of the end...
-This is for the ones who keep it all alive. Peace.

RE: COOL Series: Take II
Here is another take on the Japanese opening to the X-Men Animated series. ENJOY!!!
Sunday, October 18, 2009
Now THIS would have made a COOL cartoon!!!
Some one had me check this out and I was BLOWN AWAY!!! They introduced this to me as the X-Men: Animated Series opening, for the program that had aired in Japan. Then, as the story goes on, it turned out that this was just an opening... I could not believe that they played THIS and then expected an audience to actually enjoy watching the North American series... what the heck was everyone thinking... Take the animators and directors of this opening and put them on the payrole back in the ninties and Marvel would have probally had the BEST and probally longest running show on Saturday Mornings!
Don't get me wrong, the North American X Men Animated Series was still the BOMB!

Image, Do Ye Walk Da Plank?
ARGHHH! Me Mateys!
What a great showing... It's about darn time that the guys, (and girls), of the long lost treasure trove of Image Comics pull their crap together and unite as a team and quit with the "I've got the most followers" attitude that has been the mainstay of this ghost ship.
Savage Dragon, Shadow Hawk, Spawn, Witchblade, Young Blood... Its like the good ol' "Conquest" of the ninties all over again... lets just hope that its not McFarlane locked in the cabin inking just one stinking page and Erik Larson the only Captain up on deck!
With a cast of new creators, writers, and artists hopefully there won't be the same mutiny that has ravaged all hands on deck like in the past...
X Marks the spot on this one... Lets just hope that these bloody land lubbers can draw up anchor, cast the sails, and not sleep with the ghost of ol' Davey Jones... ARGGHH!!!

Superman: Secret Origins?
Coming across recent news of the famed DC Universe an article appeared several days ago commenting on the release of a mini-series entitled, "SUPERMAN: Secret Origins." At first I was skeptical, just as the article began with, a universal lack of surprise with how the "story" was coming out... then the article went on...
The full article which was actually linked outside of http://www.dccomics.com/ and into http://www.aintitcool.com/ ... If you are a fan... check it out...
The full article which was actually linked outside of http://www.dccomics.com/ and into http://www.aintitcool.com/ ... If you are a fan... check it out...
It seems like the whole point of this new Superman mini-series is to show that there is no difference between the DC Universe and that of Marvel... In that, this mini-series is to prove that Super-Man had a "tough" origin just like that of any of the reigning Marvel Characters. It would seem that the angle of this mini-series is to "prove" to the world that the DC universe can "match" up to the Marvel Comics Universe and show off a renegade, outlaw side that has been characteristic of Marvel Comics...
Well...
So what?
Isn't the reason that which makes DC Universe stand on its own pedestal exactly the "sterner stuff" that gives Marvel its own platform. Yeah, for years now there has always been that inevitable debate about Marvel Vs. DC in the old comic book store, or at that comic book show... But to be honest, hasn't there always been a mutual respect for the two publishers?
Yeah, it could be true that its time for a new "Ultimate" Superman title, but then again, wouldn't DC just be following in line to Marvel, almost emulating, rather than staying the same course that has DC Comics been so renown for? True, this new angle is to "break" that image, but when did this "image" turn into a bad thing. Its almost as if DC Comics is ashamed of one of its greatest icons and perhaps one of the greatest worldly Super Heroes' to ever exist.
At the end of the day there has always been Marvel readers and there has always been DC readers. Now there are Anime readers, Star Wars readers, Dark Horse Readers, Image readers, Graphic Novel readers, "Indy" Readers... there has always been Comic Book readers... A Comic book reader, is a comic book reader. Comic book enthusiasts have always had that point, where in the end, its the story, the art, the heart, that really matters... that is what makes comic books so great!

Disney buys Marvel...Words cannot even describe...
There comes a time in everyone's life when they have to really step back and say... "Whoa... What the F*@#!!!" I believe on August 31, 2009... that was one of those days.
I awoke and turned on my computer to find an article on Yahoo! reported by NPR about the acquisition of Marvel Comics by Disney...
All I could say was...
"What the F*@#!!!"
Out of all the stunts that Marvel has been known for... The failure of a starved New Universe... Another less than zero attempt at a new idea given to Clive Barker's unfortunate credit in Razor Line comics... A disastrous Marvel UK attempt... The launch of Strange Tales, Marvel's weak battle cry to DC's Vertigo Line... Nick Fury the Movie... The listless purchase of Malibu Comics... Toy Biz's sad acquisition... The Marvel "MANGA" attempt... Spiderman & Friends kid's toy line to challenge the likes of Rescue Heroes, that went virtually no where...
...
"What the F*@#!!!"
This could quite possibly be one of the worst things that could possibly happen to the comic book industry of the 21st Century.
I look back at the past and see the rise and sheer, utter collapse of so many companies that could have, no should have had so much potential... Jim Shooter and his Valiant Universe was a ticking time bomb... The great acquisition of Malibu Comics by Marvel that completely "snuffed out" that universe... Image Comics was once a huge giant that grew so many limbs that the tree fell down... The birth and death of Acclaim Comics was like the rolling waves of an ocean, Chaos Comics was a dream and then it awoke... Dreamwave productions, one of the Image limbs that fell from the tree and "Cracked" on its downward spiral... the list just goes on... and unfortunately on...
What makes me sad is not so much the move on Marvel's behalf, but a sad day in the history of the Comic Book industry has now been written... This is finally the day when one of the last, GREAT independent companies turned its back on themselves and sold out, not to popularity or pop culture... what good is popularity? No, I am talking about selling out to the idea of what a company should be about, not to build, build, build, just to sell it to the highest bidder, but to build, build, build, and become the best... This is the final resting place for the pinnacle of what every man, woman, and child, that owned a small comic book company, or printed a short run comic book strives for... the possibility of what hard work and perseverance should teach us... Success... Victory... That is what makes me sad...
This century was supposed to be a new century, but as I get older I begin to see reality as what it is and always has been... just... de'ja' vu...

What ever happened to Kool Aid Kool Points?
There was an episode of "Everyone Hates Chris" where Chris narrates a side story about the family saving up points to win the grand prizes... Throughout the mini story the family eludes to all the grand prizes that the family could spend all the points on and how everyone in the neighborhood saved up their points...
...What happened to this?
There were some really chill times where my own family could relate... Even my friend's families were hording away their spoils... c'mon who didn't know someone who had the classic, "Kool Aid Man" Atari game? They didn't shell out the $50.00 at Sears back then...
Later on you could get a whole garrison of items from t-shirts and stickers to exclusive comic books and Barbies... What happened?
Lately I searched the web for more info and found an announcement from Kraft. Kraft is to be ending the program as of 2010... I didn't even know one was still kicking around... Its funny when I was growing up getting "free" stuff was a big deal... you could turn on the Saturday Morning cartoons and Kool Aid Man would be saving the world and then there would be a quick blip about saving Kool Aid Kool Points for stuff... On the back of comics or on double page spreads in magazines there would be a whole lay-out of the treasure trove of prizes to be sought after...
What gives...
Needless to say the worst part of the "new" Kraft "Kool Aid Kool Point" installment offers 4 different items... A t-shirt, a beach towel, a plastic pitcher, and... (drum roll please)... A KOOL AID Packet Holder...
Its no wonder why they are ending this program...

The "Limited Edition" Comic Book
I think just about everyone knows this issue...
I have often wondered why there are sooo many limited edition comic books out there? Don't get me wrong, I am am your average comic book fan. I do enjoy to pick up the alternative Spider-Man cover or shell out the inflated Dynamic Forces exclusive price, but... WHAT THE HECK!?!
I wouldn't be so annoyed, but why the heck am I paying $19.99 or upwards of $39.99 for just a freaking cover? What the heck! I could print most of the covers as a skin for my PlayStation, or wallpaper for my cell phone!
Like I said I am your average comic book fan, and I do need to have that item in my hands, or in my personal collection shielded away from grubby, oily hands of some intruder, but still... just a damn cover? Give me a break!!!
I think its high time that the comic industry has a complete HAUL OVER. I would allow the small companies to continue their deal. Let them do their alternate covers... Heck, that is the only way the likes of Jim Lee, or Alex Ross will ever work for them... but as for those bigger companies... Marvel... D.C... LIGHTEN UP!!! Put your money to use and make a WHOLE NEW STORY with WHOLE NEW ART WORK!!! THAT IS WORTH THE 19.99 for a limited edition of 10,000 or fewer. HECK, it may even restart the comic industry again...
...Just one thing...
If anyone from Marvel or D.C. catch wind of this... DO NOT OVER DO IT!!! I am sick of shelling out HUNDREDS of dollars for alternate, limited editions, or what ever for convention exclusives, direct exclusives, newsstand exclusives, Wizard exclusives... My Butt exclusives!!!
Hey, Take it easy!

A little word about the toy industry...
It took a while to voice something and I completely apologize... now lets get down to business...
Here we go...
3 and 3/4" figures...
Toy Biz has a really neat idea... let the largest 3 and 3/4" toy company and one of your greatest rivals make your figures for you. Not only is the head ache over with wasted time from ever breaking equipment and the finding of cheap staff for factories, but also, the hunt for new developing teams, and the risks on clueless marketing plots to launch a toy line cease.
Just, let some one else do it for you, and make money off of their backs!
Honestly, I was TICKED OFF at Toy Biz when I found out about this...
Ruin the time tested Spider - Man Lines!
Ruin the newly developed Marvel Legends Lines!
Ruin the prospect of another great Movie Line!
Ruin the Toy Biz namesake!
WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO THE GREAT AMERICAN SPIRIT OF INGENUITY AND HARD WORK...
...Well...
...I got a chance to think about it...
When I was a kid I would always eventually have a great war. Spider Man would be in the clutches of the Evil Shredder with the Autobots locked outside by the villainous Cobra, with Optimus Prime being dismantled by Galvatron and the Warlord Skeletor. What about He - Man? He was fighting the Horde in Snake Mountain with Lion-O all the while being led on a wild goose chase by the impostor Zartan. Meanwhile back at the Space Station Eternia the Toxic Crusaders were slowly getting pushed back by the relentless Vipers and their B.A.T.s led by Mumm - Ra the Unliving. But on the horizon reinforcements led by the Incredible Hulk and Punisher leading an X-Team and M.A.S.K... Unbeknown to them lurking in wait was the Master of Magnetism and The Joker with an army of Battle Beasts and Storm Troopers...
What did not make sense back then was... How could a towering, nearly 6 inch Master of the Universe figure lock into mortal combat with a 3 and 3/4 inch Darth Vader? I am sorry but I severely begin to question the power of the Dark Side when the battle is a minimally articulated, light saber brandishing, vinyl caped puppet against a giant blonde haired barbarian wielding a gigantic Sword of Power supposedly harnessing the Power of the Universe...
You really needed an imagination back then...
...Until now...
Now you can finally have a real gigantic war where everyone is the SAME HEIGHT!!!
So...
I do give some amount of props to Toy Biz and Hasbro, as much as I do love to see two great American icons of childhood symbolism locked in a desperate war for the greatest toy lines on the market... I am now torn by the fact that my Marvel toys can now enter the world of G. I. Joe, whom can join the ranks of Star Wars... But also this new alliance forces other giants to create like sizes allowing D. C. Comics size up their ranks with the likes of Terminator and Star Trek...
This is truly a great time to be a kid and a collector. (Or even just a kid at heart!)
This one goes to all the ones that keep this alive.

For all the fans out there:
A lot of people out there get a load of crap for trying to complete “fan” projects. This could be as simple as custom figures and trailers to the more elaborate “fan films” and web series. Here at Comic Story CafĂ©’ we fully endorse the fans. Peace to you. It takes a lot of courage to go out there with practically no budget, an idea, and try your damnest, or at least make an attempt at something that either Hollywood is too afraid to try, Hollywood has completely MESSED UP, or no one else has the courage to undergo. This is for all the little guys, (and girls), who really stuck it to them and created a masterpiece that can really be enjoyed by all the fans out there! Keep it up and don’t worry about the criticism… most of those people are jerks or pieces of trash anyways! Take it easy, y’all!

...RPG...
Where are all the RPGs? For all of you in the dark about this… It all started years ago… YEARS AGO… Way before video games… Well before animation… Far from T.V. even long before cars or mass radio there was a time when you could go out into the woods with a bunch of your buddies (or girlfriends) and play “guns”… or even make “mud pies”… these were simple games where you would “role play” a villain or a hero… maybe a gun slinging cowboy… or a calculating mob boss… perhaps a world class chef… this was the original RPG or “Role Playing Game.” It’s not even so far off from our own time line… running around, playing as a character in Star Wars or an astronaut on the most dangerous mission from NASA… these were the simplest of the “RPGs” out there… It would be at a much later time when groups of people came together and founded a series of games… These would be entitled names such as, “Dungeons and Dragons”, “Tunnels and Trolls”, “Palladium Games”, “Vampire”… The list now is enormous… some of these added dice, some did not… voluminous rules were developed… Some prided in having “no” rules… Complex characters that not only pretended to be in a newly developed life, but also lived in a world completely unlike our own… Or… Disturbingly, very much like our own… Now… With Playstation 3 and Wii’s that can become your own friend… Massively online games that create an “avatar,” an extension of your own self… is this the future of “RPGs?” it would certainly appear they have the same credentials… but… does that mean there will be no more dice… no more “gun fights at high noon”… is this all just the evolution… or are we losing something… is this an example of our own Atlantis… our own Rome… lost culture… or a forgotten golden age…

...Missing Link(s)...
There seems to be a missing link somewhere out there… I am trying to find something that was lost... Way back in the day… of “Force Five”… Maybe it ended with “Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.” Perhaps lost in the final days of Hanna Barbera’s “Pirates of Dark Water” and “Swat Kats.” I remember a time when I could turn on weekday mornings and find a small, forgotten block of cartoons on “USA” that included the likes of “Gigantor” and “Robotech”… I recall that shining moment in “Toonami”’s life that heralded an era of ground breaking anime that swept into the U.S. market, from “DBZ”, to “Gundam”, “Outlaw Star” to “Big O”… Even in “Adult Swim”’s shinning moments as American “Home Movies” and “Space Ghost” met Japanese “Cowboy BeBop” and “FLCL”… In this unearthing age of technology and wizardry… channels erupt into the scene and are quickly bought out and altered to meet executive “ratings”… But… where is this link… Where is that mind altering block of animation or anime, past or contemporary, local or foreign, stunning, immaculate and life affecting… That link which really sinks into you… Creates an underlying theme… the days in the elementary school kid, the high school teenager, the groups of series, the block of shows… that really marked that time… helped to turn the page… of your time… of our time…

What happened to this forgotten, mystical adventure?
When looking “into the viewing globe” there used to be this time when everywhere you would turn, it would be impossible to miss the “great” fall event. That upcoming phenomenon which landed itself into T.V. commercials, magazine articles, store shop signs, cereal boxes, newspaper pages, radio spots, and nearly every comic book that was printed. This juggernaut was so powerful there would be a hum that would ignite into nearly every school at the start of class with the approaching milestone hot on everyone’s lips. No, it was not about the approaching “trick or treat” of the Halloween season or the coming Christmas onslaught that threatened the wallets and television sets of nearly everyone who allowed themselves a few seconds of “couch potato” relief. No, it was not the upcoming New Years and the hope of another, greater year ahead. No, these “Halmark” holidays had their own time, their own millions set aside to attack would be shoppers and innocent bystanders alike. This is about a once sacred time for kids, teenagers, and adult connoisseur of fine entertainment. A time when T.G.I.F. was at its paramount and a special night was placed into a block, where Steve Urkel and Carl Winslow would introduce the upcoming of a magical event. That legendary event that would have magazine, talk shows, toy companies and marketing firms competing for the grace of a network to pour millions into them and create an unstoppable barrage of weapons and tactics to combat a wicked war that was about to take place… That war was Saturday Morning Cartoons.
