For all the fans out there:

A lot of people out there get a load of crap for trying to complete “fan” projects. This could be as simple as custom figures and trailers to the more elaborate “fan films” and web series. Here at Comic Story CafĂ©’ we fully endorse the fans. Peace to you. It takes a lot of courage to go out there with practically no budget, an idea, and try your damnest, or at least make an attempt at something that either Hollywood is too afraid to try, Hollywood has completely MESSED UP, or no one else has the courage to undergo. This is for all the little guys, (and girls), who really stuck it to them and created a masterpiece that can really be enjoyed by all the fans out there! Keep it up and don’t worry about the criticism… most of those people are jerks or pieces of trash anyways! Take it easy, y’all!

Dusting out the cobwebs...

...RPG...

Where are all the RPGs? For all of you in the dark about this… It all started years ago… YEARS AGO… Way before video games… Well before animation… Far from T.V. even long before cars or mass radio there was a time when you could go out into the woods with a bunch of your buddies (or girlfriends) and play “guns”… or even make “mud pies”… these were simple games where you would “role play” a villain or a hero… maybe a gun slinging cowboy… or a calculating mob boss… perhaps a world class chef… this was the original RPG or “Role Playing Game.” It’s not even so far off from our own time line… running around, playing as a character in Star Wars or an astronaut on the most dangerous mission from NASA… these were the simplest of the “RPGs” out there… It would be at a much later time when groups of people came together and founded a series of games… These would be entitled names such as, “Dungeons and Dragons”, “Tunnels and Trolls”, “Palladium Games”, “Vampire”… The list now is enormous… some of these added dice, some did not… voluminous rules were developed… Some prided in having “no” rules… Complex characters that not only pretended to be in a newly developed life, but also lived in a world completely unlike our own… Or… Disturbingly, very much like our own… Now… With Playstation 3 and Wii’s that can become your own friend… Massively online games that create an “avatar,” an extension of your own self… is this the future of “RPGs?” it would certainly appear they have the same credentials… but… does that mean there will be no more dice… no more “gun fights at high noon”… is this all just the evolution… or are we losing something… is this an example of our own Atlantis… our own Rome… lost culture… or a forgotten golden age…

"...I'm not running..."

...Missing Link(s)...

There seems to be a missing link somewhere out there… I am trying to find something that was lost... Way back in the day… of “Force Five”… Maybe it ended with “Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.” Perhaps lost in the final days of Hanna Barbera’s “Pirates of Dark Water” and “Swat Kats.” I remember a time when I could turn on weekday mornings and find a small, forgotten block of cartoons on “USA” that included the likes of “Gigantor” and “Robotech”… I recall that shining moment in “Toonami”’s life that heralded an era of ground breaking anime that swept into the U.S. market, from “DBZ”, to “Gundam”, “Outlaw Star” to “Big O”… Even in “Adult Swim”’s shinning moments as American “Home Movies” and “Space Ghost” met Japanese “Cowboy BeBop” and “FLCL”… In this unearthing age of technology and wizardry… channels erupt into the scene and are quickly bought out and altered to meet executive “ratings”… But… where is this link… Where is that mind altering block of animation or anime, past or contemporary, local or foreign, stunning, immaculate and life affecting… That link which really sinks into you… Creates an underlying theme… the days in the elementary school kid, the high school teenager, the groups of series, the block of shows… that really marked that time… helped to turn the page… of your time… of our time…
