"the New Gigantor"... Sometimes these things get confusing...

Depending on where you are located in the United States, back in the 80s, (or in the 90s), there launched a series entitled "The New Adventures of Gigantor" which basically took the entire style of the old black and white "Gigantor" series and added a very slightly different anime feel and most importantly added color.

Despite the color, and especially with the release of so many "bargain" DVDs a common problem is finding the version that you grew up with...

Here is the OLD "Gigantor" series, which released in the 60s...

Now here is "The New Adventures of Gigantor" series, unfortunately, I could not find the opening from the United States, but this should give you an idea...

A real solid anime series that was, and still is, among the very BEST in the GIANT ROBO genera!

Fall of the Hulks.

...And Introducing... The "Fall of the Hulks"... or, "Operation: Galactic Storm" 2?

Alot of people have recently been complaining about the direction that the Incredible Hulk is moving in. There has been a lot of stipulation that there was such a huge build up in story line and such recent climactic, almost epic revelry that there was bound to be a "Doomsday" for the Incredible Hulk, "black bag" included.

The largest and most deceitful cataclysm that tends to be the folly of Marvel Comics, (and yes, D. C. Comics too) is the unbelievable and unremarkable way to carry out a story. Its found in the "way to drop the ball" attitude that nearly every comic reader out there formulates, even before the comic has finished publishing the story. How many times has a story of utmost intricate design and immaculate craftsmanship become unveiled to shine in the glory of all the flaws of a garbled junk heap. How many times? This is probably one of the biggest reasons there are still independent comic publishers... in the real world when someone dies... they stay dead. Only independent publishers have the courage to walk this line. How many times have "Indy" comics began a great story, told a great story, ended a great story, and for what ever reasons the collaborative team simply moved on their own way. To make matters worse these giant comic publishers feel the need to add insult to injury by "beating the dead horse" and publishing more and more "back up" stories to "add on" and try to prove something... just let it go.

Now enough of the banter...

Here you go:

http://www.marvel.com/ has released an almost enigma of shrouded smoke in the up coming "Fall of the Hulks" story line. Tight lipped and foreboding this has been churning for quite some time...

This image was released to give a little mouth watering glimpse of the havoc that lays in store for the future of the Incredible Hulk.

There has certainly been the ever emerging "this world isn't big enough for the both of us" attitude that seems to find its way into the Hulk saga time and time again. But, unfortunately, even since the beginning of the Red Hulk, there has been a "love it or hate it" belly aching of the disenchanted readers and finally Marvel has seemingly been forced into a corner. There may finally emerge one Hulk to rule them all...
...
From a neutral prospective, there doesn't seem to be any reason that a separate story line shouldn't be allowed to exist, albeit in a "Vertigo" (or in Marvel's case) a "Strange Tales" story line... But as the inevitable popularity (or infamy) begins to rise, so doesn't the corruption for money and marketing, which Marvel, (as do most publishers), fall prey to. The idea that started out to be something good, is put on the "back burner" as the "demand" for cameos, endorsements, and the need to milk every last dollar out of something good leads to the inevitable loss of quality, then to the loss of readers, and then to the "Fall of the Big Buck" which lands into a consolidation process with only one book remaining... funny how history repeats itself?
...
Now... To be fair, that is just one side...
...
Another side is a GREAT story, with GREAT artists, working with GREAT characters making the best darn story line in years...

With "Mr. Fix-It" lurking in the shadows who really knows what the heck is going to happen... only time will tell...
...

Fantasy in a whole new light...

During one of those lazy Saturday afternoons, a startling revelation occurred when an episode of "Legend of the Seeker" happened onto the television, and the whole episode played out without a single challenge to fight the hour of "precious" T.V. time...

What happened to all those lower budget, or otherwise lesser known fantasy series that seemed to spark from the shadows of quiet Saturdays and the murky realms of lost Sundays?

These series may not have had the special effects of quality motion pictures, highly trained "A" class actors, breath-taking scripts that would leave you mesmerized waiting for the next blissful episode the following week, or even stories that were remotely folkloric like new chapters of the Iliad, but... in the end... It was impossible to just turn the channel...

Simply put...

They.

Were.

COOL.

These shows were a LONG time coming, where the only outlet for the forgotten Fantasy genera was found in a fleeting card game, known at that time, as "Magic", the only memorable publishers that could attract great writers from nowhere was a little company called TSR, a growing underground vision of what was to become at a little fireside hearth in the Red Dragon Inn, seemingly hundreds of lost warriors and wizardry in the stand alone - Ultima saga, and the last meeting grounds for talented minds were in the autumn Renaissance faires that became more and more endangered.

True, some of these were just spawning, one from the other in a vicious pool of inundating mire that vexed the swelling tide...

But...

They...

Were...

Cool!

Hats off to the lost pioneers of what would become the Peter Jacksons and the Harry Potters of today. If these small chapters were not written they may have not created the necessary "fodder" that would feed the boiling cauldron of what was to be.

Have you ever checked out www.Marvel.com before?

Yeah... We aren't the corporate type, but we're gonna have to give a shout out to the web designers at http://www.marvel.com/ ... If you have ever been to the site, you may find your regular... ENORMOUS, web-site that has LOADS of information that basically becomes mind boggling obscene...

But... when you really get a chance to stop and surf it... it's basically Marvel Comic's own version of Marvel "On Demand."

True, the buck stops at all the licences that they do not own the complete rights to, but when I go from an episode of the good ol' 60's Spider-Man cartoon show to an episode of the great 90's X-Men animated series... I have to step back and say, "MAN, WHAT A BOMB SITE!" Definitely worth checking out.

If you ever have a few extra minutes... check out a favorite show... heck, even current episodes, you may be surprised...

BE FOREWARNED: You can't enlarge the picture.
You have to wait for the movie to load.
There are commercials, (but hey, didn't Saturday Morning Cartoons?...)

Bored at work, bored at home, bored with life... check it out!
